SKÖ vs Booē Waterproof Belt Bag: Which Is Better?

SKÖ vs Booē
Waterproof Belt Bag
Two genuinely waterproof compact bags, built around two different priorities: Booē emphasizes smooth, quiet, ultralight access. SKÖ emphasizes a more structured, heavy-duty build for rugged outdoor use.
SKÖ Gear publishes this comparison and manufactures the SKÖ Crossbody. We use current published specifications for both products, clearly label SKÖ observations, and include categories where Booē has the advantage. Prices and specifications can change. Competitor imagery used in this review is sourced from Booē's current product page for identification and comparative editorial context and links back to the source product.
Different strengths.
Different kinds of water days.
If you only read one section, read this one. Neither bag is the automatic winner. The better choice depends on whether you prioritize light, effortless access or a more substantial adventure-oriented build.

The specs that actually matter.
We favor published numbers over assumptions. Where a manufacturer does not publish a specification, we leave it blank instead of estimating it.

Both are real waterproof bags.
This is not a waterproof bag versus a water-resistant fashion sling. Both products are sold as submersible waterproof carry systems.
Booē publishes an IP67 rating and states that the Belt Bag can be submerged in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. Its construction combines a TRU Zip closure, welded seams and an airtight body. [2]
SKÖ publishes an IP68 rating for the Crossbody and describes it as fully waterproof and submersible when the zipper is completely and properly sealed. The current SKÖ product page does not publish a specific depth-and-duration number, so we do not use “68 is higher than 67” as shorthand for saying SKÖ should be taken deeper. [1]
Both belong in the genuinely waterproof category. Booē gives shoppers the clearer public depth-and-duration specification. SKÖ publishes the higher IP designation, but we would still follow each product's stated use guidance rather than comparing the numbers in isolation.
Booē's clearest win is TRU Zip.

If zipper smoothness and noise matter most to you, Booē has the advantage.
TRU Zip is a toothless waterproof zipper system. TRU Zip describes the design as waterproof, airtight, silent and smooth-sliding, and the Booē Belt Bag uses that system as its primary closure. [4]
In SKÖ's own experience evaluating waterproof closure systems, TRU Zip's low-friction movement and quiet operation are legitimate strengths. Opening the Booē feels lighter and easier than many traditional heavy-duty waterproof zippers.
For the smoothest, quietest everyday opening experience in this matchup, Booē wins.
SKÖ has evaluated multiple waterproof closure systems during product development. In those evaluations, we found TRU Zip especially smooth and quiet. We also observed that different zipper systems behave differently as application size, loading and internal pressure change. Those observations influenced the closure systems SKÖ chose for different products.
This was internal product-development work, not an independent laboratory test of the finished Booē Belt Bag. It should not be read as a claim that TRU Zip cannot be used on larger products. TRU Zip itself offers 4 mm, 6 mm and 8 mm systems, and lists its 8 mm version for larger applications including duffels, packs, slings and fishing waders. [4]
SKÖ is the more substantial bag.
The two bags are close in exterior size, but they do not feel like the same class of construction in your hands.
SKÖ uses 1680D TPU and lists the Crossbody at approximately 13 ounces. The product is positioned around abrasion resistance, puncture resistance and demanding outdoor use. [1]
Booē uses TPU-coated waterproof fabric with welded seams and weighs far less. Booē also says the bag is suitable for environments involving saltwater, sand and sun when cared for properly. [2]
Heavier material, firmer feel, equipment-like construction.
Light body, flexible feel, less weight on the wearer.
If you want the more structured, heavy-duty-feeling bag, SKÖ is the stronger fit. If minimal weight is more important, the same construction difference favors Booē.
Booē is dramatically lighter.
Booē wins this category by a wide margin. The Belt Bag itself is listed at 2.75 ounces, with another 1.6 ounces for the included strap. SKÖ lists the Crossbody at 13 ounces. [1] [2]
That difference is not automatically good or bad. It reflects the same design tradeoff seen in the materials: Booē feels closer to an ultralight waterproof pouch, while SKÖ feels closer to compact outdoor equipment.
For travel, resort use or anyone minimizing carried weight, this is a clear Booē advantage.
Booē has a feature SKÖ does not.
Booē includes a dedicated interior phone pocket against a clear, touchscreen-friendly rear panel.
That lets you interact with a compatible phone without opening the main waterproof compartment. Booē specifically markets the panel for phone use in wet environments. [2]
SKÖ's Crossbody has an opaque body. To use the phone normally, you open the waterproof zipper and remove it.
If checking your phone without opening the bag matters to you, the clear rear panel is a real functional advantage.
They are closer in size than the design suggests.
Both sit in the compact essentials category: phone, wallet, keys, cards, cash, sunglasses and similar small items. SKÖ publishes approximately 1.14 liters of capacity. Booē does not currently publish a liter figure on the product page, so we do not estimate one from external dimensions. [1] [2]
Booē's included strap can be configured for belt, crossbody, shoulder or neck carry. SKÖ is primarily built around crossbody carry across the chest, front or side.
Neither is a backpack replacement. Choose based on how you want the bag to feel and wear, not because one appears dramatically larger on paper.
The environment is the tie-breaker.
This is where the two design philosophies become most useful. Instead of asking which bag is “better,” ask what kind of day you are packing for.
Pool, resort, cruise, beach and casual water days
Booē's low weight, flotation, smooth zipper and clear phone panel all make sense when convenience around water is the priority.
Kayaking, fishing, hiking, rough travel and adventure use
SKÖ's more substantial 1680D TPU construction makes more sense when water is only one of the things your gear may encounter.
Close enough that features matter more than $6.
SKÖ currently lists the Crossbody at $80. The Booē Amazon listing supplied for this comparison showed $74 when checked on October 4, 2026. [1] [3]
With a gap that small, we would not choose solely on price. Booē gives you features SKÖ does not, including its clear phone panel and flotation claim. SKÖ gives you a much heavier 1680D TPU build and different product priorities. Buy the construction and experience you actually want.
Prices move. The core design tradeoffs are more meaningful than a small channel-price difference.
Which one should you buy?
SMOOTH + LIGHT
STRUCTURED + RUGGED
You want effortless waterproof carry.
Booē is the stronger choice if smooth and quiet zipper operation, low weight, flotation and phone interaction through the bag are high priorities. For resorts, beaches, cruises and casual recreation around water, its design is extremely compelling.
You want a more rugged, structured build.
SKÖ is the stronger fit if you prefer a substantial 1680D TPU bag built around outdoor use where abrasion, equipment and rougher environments matter alongside water.
Booē wins some of the most noticeable convenience categories. SKÖ wins where a more substantial adventure-oriented build is the priority. That is a more useful conclusion than pretending either product is best at everything.

How we built this comparison.
Product specifications in this article were checked against current manufacturer pages and the supplied Amazon listing. SKÖ commentary about zipper feel and product-development evaluation is clearly identified as SKÖ's own observation rather than independent testing.
